Basic Requirements
Minimum 18 years old for non-commissioned officers, 21 years old for commissioned (armed) officers.
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license in good standing.
Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States (Form I-9 required).
Must be fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking). Bilingual and military applicants are preferred.
Free of felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
Screening Process
Provide at least 3 personal references and 5 years of work history.
Undergo a criminal background check through the Texas Department of Public Safety and the FBI.
Complete drug and alcohol testing (zero-tolerance policy).
Pass literacy, personality, and integrity assessments.
Participate in a personal interview.
Training
Successful applicants attend extensive orientation and training classes led by certified instructors. Each officer must pass written tests and field training before assignment.
